Can religion tell us more than science?

Is it true? Can religion tell us more than science?

Well I suppose in attempting to address this we would need to qualify exactly what we are learning more about, eh?

While it's true we wont learn as much about physics by myth compared to science, one might argue that myth might teach us more about being human.

The new atheism movement is one that it seems has extricated philosophy and wonderment from its pedagogy. The writer of this article is correct, the atheistic evangelical is no different than the jesuit missionaries who sought to make the world a better place by aligning the world to a single viewpoint.

They do seem to miss the point. While it's easy to paint a target on imperial Christianity and its crimes against humanity, is that representative of all theologies?

And let me say that I am NOT the sort who advocates religion as a placeholder. What I do advocate is an understanding of the primordial archetypes of man. The art and history of belief that has been codified as religion.

While I can't advise someone suspend incredulity towards faith adoption, I can honestly say that in a careful examination of the mystic beliefs of humanity, I believe you can learn more about Man than in any anthropology book or origins class.

But, hey, what do you think? Don't forget to share, comment, re-blog, +1, and like :)
