In an interesting, albeit very liberal, take on the christian right and the evolution from JBS to the tea party, the auteur raises some points that not all might agree with.
I find fault, as a fiscal conservative/libertarian, at the painting of the 'teaparty' as a different mask for the christian right, along with the assertion that Glenn Beck and Palin are the heroes of it.
At its core the tenets of the tea party were classic libertarianism, with an emphasis on tax reform and sound money. Very quickly the religious right jumped in to get a piece of the social movement, which gave big government advocates an easy target.
Are you a secular 'tea party' advocate? What is your opinion on this?
