Religion And Science Can Coexist, Scientists Say In New Survey

Religion And Science Can Coexist, Scientists Say In New Survey.

For real? I would think the myriad of interviews conducted with the scientific intelligentsia would result in a much different outcome.

For me the main problems with codified religions is they make knowledge claims that are unprovable. They, in most cases, derive their authority from prophets who claim to have exclusive knowledge from some paranormal event, entity, or discovery.

However I think I can understand. The various Abrahamic faiths, or any with a creator god really, now project their biases towards the causality upon the existing body of science available to them.

Isaac Bonewits', in an interview he did with freeman, said that people always relate the causality of magick with the scientific nomenclature of their day. First atomism, then electricity, then frequencies, now quantum and string theories.

Now with widespread acceptance of evolution, the big-bang, and the understanding that the earth is older than 6000 years old, that leaves people with religious predisposition or 'spiritual' upbringings the ability to simply add the name of their deity onto modern science. As in: Yahweh ---> Big Bang ---> stars ---> planets ---> people ---> now.

The problem with these theories is that however improbable they are they are not impossible.

Science address the same issue in a different way, the creator being replaced with "quantum fluctuations", which may be just as implausible to those who wonder what dimension or reality those "quantum fluctuations?
