Ron Paul to Jon Stewart: thanks for the help (video)

What is it about these two that is so endearing? Is it the bi-partisan unity?

Is it that media has done whatever it can to paint Paul as a fringe candidate, when they DO mention him, so as to amplify the effect of the nod by the political jester Stewart?

Is it that both figures have multitudes of fans and followers who look to them for truth in a society that feels like its rotting from the inside out?

I would say yes, the last one. Yes to all three, even.

People are desirous of virtue. Of unchanging value. Of character. They want to be led and to listen to people that don't sound as if all their speeches are written by PR Flaks. They want that sort of Noam Chomsky knows his stuff and can defend his positions type guy.

Ron Paul is reminiscent of that when reeling off the history of monetary decline, and admonishing the FED for their transgressions. People who believe Money is the lifeblood of a secret cabal that guide the nation have found their candidate in Paul.

John Stewart, who I disagree with quite a bit, also gives us glimpses of someone who can speak beyond arbitrary party lines and associated talking points and capture the malaise the people feel at the politicians empty and backwards polemics.

(however that whole Jon Stewart in the middle-east thing where he visited the troops and came back and didn't even mention the fallacious nature of the conflict or voice any opposition to it chapped my ass)

These characters are as reassuring to anti-establishment types like myself as Bachmann is to a Evangelical Christian Reconstructionist and Dominionist.

Anyhow: Read the article, watch the video, tell me what you think.
