What are the other options? Re there viable actionable alternatives to nuclear energy? I know it's bad but I am not aware of other venue than Solar and Wind.

There was a recent story of a German town creating an energy surplus through alternative means, but would that work for big-city american living and the corresponding electricity addiction?
