An interesting look into the partnership of Big Oil and the USA towards skirting environmental responsibilities.
An Ecuadorian case dating back to 2003 was finalized in February this year with a deicing in favor of the indigenous communities in the amount of 18.2 billion.
This of course sets epic precedence in the court system if Big Oil is now to be held accountable (think BP Gulf Spills).
Wikileaks leaked cables show that there was 2-way communication instigated by Chevron to push for USA support in getting rid of the case and in forcing the Ecuadorian government to take responsibility.
