AKA 5 breaths of relief. The article cites many a reason for the growing psychographic of people who claim "none" for religious preference.
One of the main reasons, other than advancing science filling in the gaps that faith used to occupy, is a more personalized view of god, the 'spiritual but not religious' bunch, i would presume. I suppose that is a good thing. I find the new-agey-esoteric Christianity meme kind of annoying, myself, but It is better than being a catholic, I guess! :)
Another is progressives who used to consider themselves religious being put off by the religious right, and understandably so!
Last but not least the article mentions that non-acceptance of gay lifestyle is a big no-no among 20-30-year-olds. What do you think? Have you extricated yourself from the faith of you parents? Have you shunned the big institutions in favor of a more personalized image of god?
