The article doesn't really address whether the pluralistic marriage actually transpires, just describes the sharia legality of it.
It seems, like most hermeneutical issues, it is up to opinion whether multiple wives are allowed by the Qur'an or not.
The author suggests that those who follow sharia law are subjected to the rules of the land which would explicitly forbid the practice in america. Would you agree?
