I have come a long way and while some of the tenets of the teapparty are lost on me now, it is very frustrating to see people say that the tea party was about deregulation and ending welfare, while they neglect to EVEN MENTION INCOME TAX. LOL
But still... how do these people call Limbaugh a tea party proponent? Seriously? He was calling teapartiers kooks and insane, and deriding Ron Paul.
Glen Beck was excoriated by Alex Jones and other libertarian online talking heads. The truth is that mainstream republicans attached themselves to the narrative and wrapped their existing bi-partisan pro-big-money politics in the veil of populism.
The same will happen to #OWS if they don't nut up and spread a concise value statement and codex of desires and platforms to prevent people from, in the months and years to come, reducing this to a movement about socialism, unemployment, and furthering progressive ideals, and enabling them to leave out all the pertinent tid-bits about ending the collusion of finance/Washington, campaign finance reform, re-regulation, and monopoly busting.
Propaganda & Manufactured Populism: The Rise of the Tea Party
Mystic Politics mission is to instigate debate on politics, religion, and science towards a more informed society. Our goals are increasing the authority of alternative media and citizen journalism- and to spotlight political corruption, government conspiracies, religion in politics, and the dichotomy of science and faith.
