Genetic connections formed after the human/primate split are now seen to be the impetus for the human distinct brain functionality & structure.
They are not sure what the causality of the new genetic markup was, or if it was due to biological/environmental conditions.
I suppose this is a new theory regarding chicken/egg development of functionality/regulation of life. Maybe someone can explain it to me! :P
