'Deadly Monopolies': Medical Ethicist Harriet Washington on How Firms are Taking Over Life Itself

Medical companies and the hospital trade has gone in a complete profit focused direction and is now primarily as soulless as the transnational banks.

In one case peculiar cells taken from the surgery one patient had were patented without the patients knowledge, and when they went back and tried to get him to recursively sign away his rights to the tissues, which prompted him to get an attorney, who quickly discovered the patent on his body.

Goes into some of the rights these medical institutions have to your post-surgery skin and tissues, some of which go to human/animal hybrid experiments. Creepy stuff. Also covers GMO patents.
