Arbitrarily stating that 'peace has broken out in the war between religion and science' is cute for a couple reasons.
Science was the victim of institutionalized religion for centuries. How many heretics who just questioned the authority and literal reading of the bible or other religious texts were put to death?
Just because religion has been putatively disproven and rendered inconsequential in the era of science, logic, reason, philosophy and psychoanalysis and greater empathy between people, doesn't mean we should forget what these groups did when they had the market share of fear and leveraged that for power.
There is no 'war' against religion, scientists just dismiss it because it is just plain silly and illogical. Sure we can have a discussion about spirit, as soon as science proves its existence. Until them why don't we argue about whether harry potter would win against Hercules arm wrestling.
